Marry Poppins Returns is coming to Netflix USA and Canada in July 2019. As part of the Disney/Netflix agreement, the Disney remake will be the last Disney movie to come to Netflix in America and Canada. Here’s what you need to know about the movie and when Mary Poppins Returns will be on Netflix.

Mary Poppins 2 is a sequel that was released decades later than the original. It’s got some familiar faces in the new movie and features a similar animation style too but fundamentally, this could be also considered a reboot. Lin-Manuel Miranda and Emily Blunt are featured in the new film. It got pretty good reviews from critics and has led the way for Disney’s 2019 lineup of movies which is dominated by reboots, sequels and remasters of their existing library.

Mary Poppins Returns on Netflix US

Netflix is receiving new Disney films between six and eight months after they are released in cinemas. We were hoping that the movie, which was released December 2018, would arrive on Netflix by August. However, it is now confirmed that Mary Poppins Returns will be available on Netflix July 9, 2019.

Remember, once it hits Netflix you’ll have exactly one year and a half before it’s removed. It’ll also then return after 9 years too as part of Netflix still owning the pay 2 rights for said movies. This means we’ll see the movie likely return to Netflix in December 2027.

Mary Poppins Returns will be the last Disney film to hit Netflix.

Netflix and Disney have had an agreement for several years. Netflix now has all the new Disney theatrical releases available on Netflix within 9 months of their first release. That’s seen titles from Pixar, Disney, Marvel, and Star Wars all drop on Netflix.

All movies made between 2016-2019 will be included in the deal. Because Mary Poppins Returns comes just before the cut-off it’ll be the final addition. Disney+ will have all future films.

Netflix Canada will have Mary Poppins Returns.

Canadians are still involved with the Disney deal and to our knowledge, doesn’t run out next year either. Although the dates may differ, it is basically the same deal. If you’re in Canada, you can expect Mary Poppins to also stream in the summer of 2019.

Netflix UK will soon have Mary Poppins Returns, but it won't be until a few more years. Usually, NowTV picks up Disney films first. Then it goes to Netflix in the second window. DisneyLife follows. It’s not clear how this is affected by the new Disney+ service.
