If you like comic books, you might have heard about the new DC shows being developed for HBO Max. In fact, Abrams is currently developing a series based on DC's supernatural team. Dead Boy Detectives and Green Lantern are already in the works, while Watchmen vs DC is also in development. Here are some of the DC shows on HBO Max you should watch in 2019.
The news that Abrams is developing a series centered on the DC's supernatural team will certainly have many fans excited. The Justice League Dark team includes Swamp Thing, Zatanna, Constantine, Deadman, and Etrigan the Demon. The team is a new take on the superheroes from the New 52 universe. It will focus on paranormal characters of the DC Universe.
HBO is working with Abrams' Bad Robot to develop a one-hour drama centered on the comics of the Justice League. The proposed one-hour drama will be written by Angela Robinson, a True Blood producer. The executive producers are Abrams and Ben Stephenson. It has yet to be revealed whether the series will be based on the comic or another character.
While the project has been in development for quite some time, little has been said about the characters involved. However, we do know that the Justice League Dark team is composed of a number of characters that have never been seen on television before. John Constantine, Swamp Thing, Detective Chimp, Etrigan the Demon, Man-Bat, and Traci Thirteen are part of the team, as is Deadman.
Warner Bros. recently announced plans to create its own streaming service. The company also has several other projects in the works, including a Green Lantern anthology series starring Matt Reeves, and a new adaptation of the DC Comics Strange Adventures. In addition to The Suicide Squad, Warner Bros. has a DC Cinematic Universe that includes Aquaman and Wonder Woman.
In addition to the Justice League Dark, Abrams is also developing a show based on the character of John Constantine for HBO. Bad Robot and WarnerMedia are teaming up to create the new series, and they are looking to cast an actor of color as the titular hero. In the NBC show, Constantine was played by Matt Ryan. The 2005 film featured Keanu Reeves as the occult master.
Another series that is in the works for HBO Max is Madame X. The show is being written by Angela Robinson, who wrote Professor Marston & the Wonder Women, the movie that inspired the creation of the real Wonder Woman. Abrams' production company will also help with the writing of the show. This project will likely tie in with his Justice League Dark plans.
HBO Max has ordered a new supernatural series, based on the characters from Neil Gaiman's "Sandman" comic books. The supernatural series will follow a team of ghost detectives as they solve murders. Producers are Berlanti Productions and Warner Bros. Television. The series will be eight episodes long and directed by Steve Yockey. More details will be revealed in the near future.
The show will be based on DC comics, specifically the "Sandman" universe. The series will star Sean Astin, Ty Tennant, Sebastian Croft, and Jeremy Carver. The Dead Boy Detectives will take on the role of two boys who refuse to move on in the afterlife. The series is set to begin filming later this year. The series is expected to run for eight episodes, but HBO is not yet certain of the exact number.
The project was ordered by HBO, with a single director attached. The show should begin production this summer. HBO's "Max" service has several shows in development, including the critically acclaimed series The Walking Dead. In addition to HBO's original series, the show's creators are also involved in the new project. It's unclear when HBO will start production on the series, but there's a high possibility that it will debut on the streaming service.
The show is currently casting for several roles, including the main character, Edwin Payne, who has been cast as an ineffective lovemaker. A bi-racial woman of a similar age is being sought to play Crystal Palace. The role has been cast as a character who is smart and cool, but has a lot of pent-up frustration. The role is also open for a POC actor.
Casting for the new series is underway for three lead characters. Charles and Edwin, who played in Doom Patrol, will be recast for this new series. The new series will be a spin-off of the popular superhero show, which premiered on HBO in September. In addition to the series' characters, Carver has also been a producer on "Frequency," "Supernatural," and the DC series, "Titans." The actor is repped by WME and Felker Toczek.
In the winter TCAs, HBO and DC Comics hyped up a new show called "Green Lantern" for their streaming service. The live-action series will follow the adventures of many different Lanterns, from Sinestro to the new hero Green Lantern. Interestingly enough, the upcoming adaptation of Green Lantern will be a departure from the character played by Ryan Reynolds.
Among the projects that HBO and DC have in development are a CG animated series called Generation, starring Michael B. Jordan, Dakota Fanning and Maisie Williams. The show is a sci-fi teen drama similar to "Girls" and focuses on the sexuality of high school teenagers in the digital age. Berlanti is currently under a lucrative overall deal with Warner Bros. Television, and he has previously written multiple projects for the DC universe, including the "Green Lantern" film with Ryan Reynolds. He is repped by Syndicate Entertainment.
HBO has ordered 10 one-hour episodes of Green Lantern. It is based on the comic book, which is a crossover series. Besides the upcoming Green Lantern, the network is also developing "Justice League," a recut of the original film by director Zack Snyder. The Justice League Dark is also in development. And, of course, it's a big deal for HBO.
The animated series will also star Ansel Elgort and Lupita Nyong'o. Other shows on HBO Max will be based on comics. The first project, Chinos, will focus on the Asian American experience and flip the concept of the "model minority." Another original series is Drama Queen, based on the childhood of TVLine founder Michael Ausiello. So, keep an eye out for HBO Max for more news about these new shows.
Besides the new series of Green Lantern, the streaming service also offers a large library of back catalog titles from DC Comics and Warner Bros. The streaming service also has original movies and anime. This is a great way to watch the latest series of your favorite superhero. A lot of the new movies and shows on HBO Max are exclusive to the service, so be sure to check the list for the latest additions!
In addition to the movie Watchmen, HBO has been developing a TV series based on the comic book series. The series is in development by Damon Lindelof and stars Jeremy Irons, Regina King, Don Johnson, Tim Blake Nelson, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Tom Mison, Andrew Howard, Jacob Ming-Trent, and Lily Rose Smith.
While it hasn't been confirmed yet whether or not the show will happen, we know the plot: it's a superhero movie, and we don't know when or where it will be shown. For now, HBO Max will be showing animated versions of the popular comic series. The show will also be airing DC movies in rotation. If Watchmen vs. DC is on the way, you won't have to wait long for this show to hit the air.
The first TV series to be adapted from the comic book series will focus on Green Lanterns, and it will also feature the popular Sinestro and Green Lanterns. The new series will span several decades and have a human-alien hybrid character called Bree Jarta. The movie will be a departure from the Ryan Reynolds version of Green Lantern. If the series does come to fruition, it will be a welcome addition to the DC universe.
Another film based on the comic book universe will focus on Barbara Gordon. The second film in the series will introduce Barbara Gordon as Batgirl of Gotham and her relationship with Birds of Prey. While the Batman movie was a standalone, the Batgirl movie will be tied into The Batman movie and Gotham PD. It will constitute the first true separate universe from Man of Steel. This is a great time for HBO to produce a DC superhero movie, so get ready to see it on HBO.
Other cast members include Quintessa Swindell and James Cusati-Moyer. In addition to Swindell and Kenzari, the film will also star Pierce Brosnan as Dr. Fate. The casting for this series was recently confirmed by the studio. In February 2020, J.J. Abrams will be executive producer of the movie. Meanwhile, Angela Robinson, who wrote Professor Marston & the Wonder Women, will write the script.
